• Gen 4 Image Intensifier Tube: This is the defining feature. Gen 4 tubes are “filmless and autogated,” offering superior performance in extremely low light conditions and dynamic lighting situations.
  • Filmless: Provides a higher signal-to-noise ratio, leading to cleaner, brighter images with less “sparkle” or “scintillation” than earlier generations.
  • Autogated: Automatically regulates the voltage to the microchannel plate, preventing the tube from “blinding” or “washing out” in the presence of sudden bright lights (like car headlights or muzzle flash). This significantly reduces the “halo” effect around light sources and allows for operation in urban areas with light pollution.
